Shop local this Christmas...

With the madness of summer now a distant memory we can refocus, recharge and begin to think about the excitement of Christmas.

I'm sure the one thing that everyone is most looking forward to this year is being with their loved ones and spending much needed quality time as a family or as groups of friends. At many of these "get-togethers" families and friends will exchange gifts and share food and drink round the table, but in doing this will you have supported our local shops and businesses?

Cornwall is abundant with local crafters, bakers, farmers, fishermen and artists just to name a few and we are so lucky to have these companies right on our doorstep, but it is vitally important to keep them going and keep our small towns alive.

With the Christmas fairs soon to begin, many business owners are frantically working away in the background producing stock to see them through this busy period, all these items made through, passion, dedication and love for what they do and speaking first hand it brings so much joy to sell direct to the customer and be able to talk about items that have been made by the person selling them.

You will find Fine Fodder along with many of my fellow traders at a whole host of fairs this Christmas, so keep an eye on social media for further dates and details. If you would like to add something to your diary now, then I will be at the following:

Saturday 20th November 10am - 5pm - The Cornish Winter Fair, Wadebridge.

This one day Christmas fair attracts thousands of visitors and is one of the first chances to really get that shopping started, with plenty of local craft, trade and food and drink stalls, it's a great day out and perfect way to see and sample some great Cornish produce. It's also a chance to see my full Christmas fare and place your orders. Chilled decadent ready to eat desserts will also be available on the day including:

  • Raspberry & Hazelnut Meringue Roulade

  • Mulled Wine Jelly & White Chocolate Cheesecake, with a Ginger Crumb

  • Limoncello Meringue Roulade

  • Vanilla Panna Cotta, Grand Marnier Caramel Sauce, Orange & Anise Biscotti

this is on top of all our patisserie and traditional bakes. Many items available to take away are part of our 2021 Christmas Fare giving you the perfect opportunity to taste test ahead of placing your order and I'll be there on hand to answer any questions you may have!

Saturday 4th December 10am - 12.30pm - Little Petherick Mini Christmas Fair.

We missed it last year but so pleased it's back this year, this little morning of Christmas in a beautiful 100 year old hall, really will get you feeling all festive. We'll be there with a selection of our cakes perfect for afternoon tea and taking orders for Christmas. With parking, bacon baps and plenty of stalls for Christmas shopping, this really is a lovely place to pop by and all in support of our village hall and church.

Padstow Food Hall 10am - 4pm - Padstow Memorial Hall

In the run up to Christmas you'll find me at the Food Hall each week, please do check social media for dates as these will be changing from Mid-November. If you've never popped in, then you really are missing out, full of local producers you really could get a gift for everyone on your Christmas list plus order up all your sweet treat Christmas fare from myself. Now Padstow is a little quieter, it really is much more enjoyable to pop in for a wonder and see all that the town has to offer. Look out for details of late night shopping and other events taking place over the coming weeks.

We really hope that you can be inspired to shop local and support local small businesses and keep our towns thriving. So this Christmas, head to your local town, market or Christmas fair and see what you can find...

Remember, keep the cake tin full

Sue
