Where's your favourite spot?

Cornwall is busy, busy, busy and for those of us who live and work here, we tend not to come up for air until November!

We do however, all need some well deserved R&R just to keep going through the "silly season", it may just be a stolen hour, afternoon or evening but however short or long this moment is, we need to make the most of it.

For me, there's nothing better than taking a picnic and heading off to Tregirls beach. This truly breath-taking spot is generally a lot quieter than the main beaches of the "Seven Bays" area and with it's beautiful golden sand and gentle waters, it makes the perfect place to relax in the sun and take a dip in the water!

Picnics have evolved over the generations and still are, from a few sandwiches, crisps and a drink to something quite elegant such as a full afternoon tea. This summer I'm offering lots of treats perfect for outdoor eating, including picnics, whether it's an afternoon tea hamper packed with savoury and sweet treats delivered to your door or if you're just popping into the stall, then expect to find a selection of freshly baked decadent desserts and traditional bakes, from focaccia, quiche and chocolate brownie to lemon meringue roulade, white chocolate and passion fruit cheesecake and mini lemon curd layer cakes, you'll be sure to find a perfect selection of picnic treats to then head straight off to the beach with.

If you need some extras for your picnic then the Padstow Food Hall is just the place, from environmentally friendly food wraps and reusable cutlery from Bee Retro Beeswax Wraps, to jams, pickles and chutney's, not forgetting all the gin of course, they've even got homemade dog treats from The Cornish Barkery so your four-legged friend isn't left out!

So wherever your favourite spot is for some time out from all the madness, make the most of it, treat yourself and have some well deserved rest and relaxation.

Enjoy the summer, don't work too hard and remember to keep the cake tin full!!
